Since Tech N9ne foreshadowed his ascent into mainstream stardom on the outro of Absolute Power's "Yada Yada Yada," the Strange Music mogul has more than solidified his legacy. With sixteen artists currently signed, including Tech himself, right hand man Krizz Kaliko, Brotha Lynch Hung, and ¡Mayday!, Strange is one of the game's more solid homegrown hip-hop labels. On that note, the Miami "band" ¡Mayday! (made up of rappers Bernz & Ben Miller and producer Andrews Mujica) has been emerging as one of the labels most original and refreshing acts. With their upcoming album Search Party set to drop on September 8th, the duo have shared a new Tech N9ne assisted single called "Long Night."
Compared to their latest drop "Airplane Mode," "Long Night" is a rager by comparison. Where the former was calm and subdued, the latter celebrates hedonism and bad decisions. The break-beat drums propel the instrumental as each rapper lyrically relives their inebriated highlight reels. Drugs and women are the mission, and it's hardly impossible. Despite the seemingly shallow content, the flows of each rapper are masterful, which should come as no surprise seeing as the group are disciples of Tech N9ne.
Speaking of Tech, his veteran experience shines as he closes out the track on a high note, opting for an unconventional yet bouncy flow. Tech busts out the storytelling chops as he muses about a night of partying with none other than the boss himself, Rick Ross. Tech seems in awe of Ross' presence, impressed at how the Boss was securing a hefty bag for a walkthrough yet still held it down to perform some songs. By the end of the night, Tech, Krizz Kaliko Ross were "swervy," but that didn't stop Tech from closing out the night with a happy ending.
Quotable Lyrics
Ten o'clock hit the stage,
Done at 12 and I'm waiting for Ross Rick to say
When they leavin' the telly for the club cause we in the same town
Bang blow, now we off the tourbus on escapade
