In an interview with Billboard at the 2012 Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, A$AP Rocky discussed his diverse fan base. He’s already made a stir with collaborating with pop singer Lana Del Rey, and he says "I got supporters from all demographics.”
Rocky then talks about the eclectic group of fans you will see at one of his shows. He claims that his music is aiming to redefine mainstream rap, and speaks to people from all different backgrounds. “There are people that don't fuck with Rap but fuck with A$AP, just because I give them a feeling that they can't explain.” Rocky continued, “I'm used to this happening - even when it's not at one of these festivals, my crowd is real diverse. If you've ever been to one of my shows, you'd be like, 'What the fuck did I just step into?”
Talking about changing the mainstream sound he said, “we change the sound of mainstream. The mainstream isn't gonna be that bullshit that you hear on the radio all day. The mainstream's gonna be that A$AP -- we're gonna change the whole world with this shit.”
LongLiveA$AP, Rocky’s anticipated album, is due out in September, but no official release date has been announced. The A$AP Mob member says fans can expect an album from the crew soon “in two weeks”.
