R-Mean delivers one for the ladies.

Over the course of his Mean Mondays series (currently on its thirty-fifth weeks) R-Mean has proven he can tackle myriad different styles and still remain convincing. Now, he comes through with a different, and perhaps unlikely track - an anthem for the ladies. And while every rapper is a ladies' man in their own right, R-Mean has preferred to keep his series filled with bars and commentary of both the social and political variety. Luckily for the females in attendance, that's all about to change.

The Young Taylor produced track features the talented Breana Marin, who opens things off with an intimate vocal performance. I feel like the guitar riff is reminiscent of Mr. Probz hit song "Waves," which makes me wonder if it's a slowed down sample. If you didn't guess from the title "In Love," the subject matter is, at least in theory, set to be imbued with storybook romance. At least, until R-Mean comes in with his opening bars - "They say that women know in the first seven seconds that they see you if they gon' let you fuck." It's kind of a comical juxtaposition against Marin's performance, who is basically pining for an intimacy more emotional than physical, but R-Mean certainly knows his priorities.

As the verse progresses, R-Mean pens a capable narrative about his relationship, in which he tries to connect on a deeper level, only to be met with resistance. Lyrically, Mean continues to prove himself a capable wordsmith, so it's no surprise that his storytelling chops are on point. Still, Breana's vocals and Young Taylor's instrumental are the true star here, helping to capture that sense of intimacy the track seems intent on conveying. It's a classic case of "thug luv," and the dynamic is brought to life with lyrical finesse.

Quotable Lyrics

I love the way you lookin' sexy in a dress
I love the way your booty jiggles when you in some sweats
I love it how you're like a homie, gangsta in the flesh
And I'm tryna tell you that I love you I confess
