A little over 13 years ago, LeBron James entered the NBA in his first game against the Sacramento Kings for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tonight, the now-champion LeBron James and Cavaliers take on the Kings again, and James took the opportunity to announce Nike will be retroing his first ever signature sneaker, the Nike Air Zoom Generation.
LeBron is evidently hyped on the retro, and can’t help but cheese throughout the video announcement (see below). The “First Game” colorway is predominantly white and red, with hints of blue. A quick search on eBay shows the shoes going for upwards of $600, so there’s clearly a market for these.
The Cavaliers forward says the shoes will be coming very soon, sometime within the next week, and concludes, “it’s time. It’s retro time.” With LeBron almost past the prime of his career (maybe?), Nike has been preparing his LeBron line for the Air Jordan treatment – a steady stream of retros for all the shoes that released throughout his 14 year and counting career. They already had a very successful relaunch of the Nike Zoom Soldier 10, so this is just another step in that direction.
