Here's how Cardiak and Frank Dukes made the "Immortal" beat.

Cardiak has produced for artists like Dr. Dre, Drake, Jeremih, and Fabolous. He collaborated with Frank Dukes to create the beat for "Immortal," which most people agree is one of the best songs on J. Cole's 4 Your Eyez Only. In a video, Cardiak breaks down the beat and explains how its various elements came together.

The beat began with a sample Frank Dukes created and sent to Cardiak. Cardiak  pitched it up, added drums to give it that "Cardi bounce," add added a synth bass to add a gritty element.

"It's a simple beat but still aggressive and it still gets the point across," he explains. "And you already know J. Cole is talking that shit on there."

Watch the beat breakdown below. Head here to read HNHH's review of 4 Your Eyez Only.
