A fundraiser started in support of the victim of the Facebook Live video torture in Chicago has raised almost $170,000 in a week.

Earlier this month, four black teens in Chicago were charged with hate crimes for the torturing of a disabled white teen. What made the case even more remarkable was that the whole thing was broadcast to Facebook Live. The victim was tied up, beaten, and even cut with a knife. The assailants could be heard yelling invective such as "f*ck white people" and "f*ck Donald Trump." He was found by police wandering the streets in a state of crisis, and due to his trauma, he was unable to speak of the kidnapping and brutal assault he had experienced until hours later.

Though the incident is indicative of evil of the darkest variety, it has inspired an outpouring of support for the poor victim. A GoFundMe page was set up for him, and in a week, he has received over 5,500 donations. The total amount he will receive as a result of the campaign is already almost $170,000, and that number is quickly growing. Donors have come from over 40 countries, according to a GoFundMe spokesman.
