Oh, you thought those 3-1 jokes stayed in 2016? Think again, because Klay has summoned the meme-spectre via the A to Z podcast. The Golden State Warriors guard had stayed mostly quiet on the Halloween memes until now, previously deadpanning when asked about the gravestone cookies that said “Klay Thompson 2015-2016.” Now, he’s really voicing his opinion.
“It’s obviously not respectful, so it’s got to be the other side of the spectrum, so that’s fine with us,” Thompson said on the podcast. “They can do that childish stuff. It doesn’t matter to us. All we’ve got to do is handle it on the court, you know?”
Seems like the mature stance until you recall Draymond Green slurring, “Cavs suck? Yup” during the Warriors’ championship celebration two years ago. Later in the podcast, Klay says the cookies and “3-1 lead” drum kit were not topics of discussion when the two teams met on Christmas day, but they might need to bring them up for an edge since the Warriors blew a 4th quarter lead in the most recent game.
Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors face off against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, January 16. It should be an excellent game.
