After joining the MMG conglomerate, Rockie Fresh talks about why he chose to sign with MMG over other interested labels, and how his connection with Rick Ross was a major factor.

Rockie Fresh inked a deal as the latest Maybach Music Group member, surprising some.  The Chicago rapper tells MTV that he flew to New York to meet up with the Bawse, and after a night of partying he signed the contract.

Less than a month after Rick Ross shouted out Rockie during a radio interview, hinting that he could be the next rapper to join the massively popular MMG, the two ironed out details and Fresh was aboard.

Ross and Rockie has been in talks since Rockie’s “Into the Future” video, and Rozay’s right-hand man Spiff suggested they keep an eye on the 21 year old rapper “"Spiff saw the video, hit me up on DM and asked, 'Are you signed?' At that time, I was taking meetings with a couple of other labels, and he said, 'Ross wants to meet you and he's gonna fly you out on Monday,' so he flew me out and I kicked it with him for a couple of days.”

Several labels had been in contact with Rockie before he signed with MMG, including Columbia, Universal and RCA, “Bad Boy was interested; I definitely had a lot of talks with them. Same thing with Columbia and Universal and RCA as well. But it was just one of those things where, when I met Ross, it clicked," he said. "It was some real n---a sh--, for lack of a better term. I felt more comfortable in that setting than in any other meeting I had."

While he just became an official member of the clique a day ago, Rockie Fresh is no stranger to MMG, as he’s performed with Meek Mill, and even toured with Wale, “"I was blessed to tour with Wale before all of this went down, and just to see the way that he became comfortable with the MMG situation, it was dope," he said. "I also actually got to perform with Meek a long time ago when he was with Grand Hustle, and to see his progression, it was something I admired."
