As far as freestyles go, you’re probably in good hands if a member of the Pro Era crew is involved, and in special cases like these, you might even get a funny backstory.
Emcee Nyck Caution checks off both boxes as he makes a solo run with Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow.” Titled “NYUK”, Caution’s new freestyle earns its title afteran initial typo in his name appeared in the credits for his part in A$AP Mob’s “Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too” where he joined fellow Progressive Era members Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight and the Flatbush Zombies on the Mob’s “What Happens.”
“When you spell my name please don't forget the C / I already had people spell it with a I, shit is weak,” he rips over the JWhiteDidThat-produced track.
Most recently, the Brooklyn emcee teamed up with the aforementioned Knight to create their collaborative Nyck @ Knight project. The chemistry the two share in the booth clearly comes first and in a visit with HNHH that chemistry reigned supreme as they two hilariously interviewed each other for the segment.
“When I make my beats, how do you go about choosing them?” Kirk Knight asked his partner at one point, as they uncovered their creative process.
“I usually like most of the beats ou make so as you’re making the beat," Nyck responded. "I’ll come up with the topic in my head as the beat is being made. So, by the time the beat is done being made, we can record the song. Two birds with one stone."
Since Nyck @ Knight’s release, the duo has continued their streak putting on for New York majorly, also taking to the stage at our very first 'Fire Emoji' show, bringing out special guest A$AP Ferg during their performance to share the limelight.
Quotable Lyrics:
Who else could take a typo and run with it
I'm having fun with an error, it's the era of the young and lit
From NY to UK I'm in London
Nyck is back to get the bag and puncture it
Every track sound like when the thunder hit
Lay it down, go to work, I don't fucking miss
The studio is my office
This is Dunder Mifflin calm down and listen
I'm bound to fix it .
