JELLO

Listen to "JELLO" from Brockhampton's new album "Saturation 2."

Jesus. Brockhampton seemingly came out of nowhere, and they're now "saturating" us with music. We're happy about it too. I'm admittedly two projects late on the Brockhampton bandwagon -- I've just recently discovered the musical masterpiece that is Saturation, let alone, their first release as a collective, All-American Trash. The latter released in March of 2016, and for the most part they were still under-the-radar at that time. This past summer, with the release of Saturation in June, they seem to have reached new heights, and created a swell of anticipation for their music and increased their fanbase in the process (but don't be fooled, they still seem underrated, just compare their view counts to today's other new album releases). Their work ethic must be ridiculous -- they've returned just two months later with the second instalment of Saturation, and they've already released one new single off a forthcoming THIRD instalment of the series (!) (if you missed it, it's called "Follow").

It was quite the difficult task to pick which record off Saturation 2 we wanted to highlight on the homepage (did we get it right??? What record would you have picked out of the 16-track offering?). "JELLO" contains a chipmunk-voiced hook of "la-dee-da-dee-da" handled by the group's frontman, Kevin Abstract, who also drops off a verse, followed in succession by Matt Champion, Ameer Vann and Dom McLennon. Who has the best verse? One of the more exciting parts about having such a large collective of artists is the fact that you get so much variety in one song, although the whole sound across Saturation 2 is filled with variety and layers, all working towards one same goal. It's a feat to get so many different sounds working in unison.

Check out "JELLO" and standby for our breakdown of WHO exactly Brockhampton is. Here it is.

Quotable Lyrics

I do business with the white folks
Bring that money back to black folks
Flip it, stimulate the cash flow
Economic, but I speak ebonics
LA turned me to an asshole

- Ameer
