Millyz is back with some new music, a collaboration with the legendary Jadakiss. The Cambridge, Massachusetts born rapper finds an effective musical chemistry with the Top 5 Dead Or Alive Yonkers lyricist, uniting over classic themes of loyalty, the come-up, and experiencing the benefits of a rags-to-riches narrative. In case you aren't familiar with Millyz, the rapper has been quietly putting in work for years now, boasting collaborations with iconic hip-hop veterans like Freeway and Killer Mike. In fact, "Back To The Money" is not the first time that Millyz and Jada have crossed paths, previously linking up for the 2013 cut "The Plug (Remix)."
While "The Plug" was more of a banger, "Back To The Money" takes both emcees down the introspective path of memory lane, in which they praise the loyalty of their squad while decrying the women who only hit them up when the money started rolling in. Millyz shows off some melodic chops with a catchy hook, and his rhymes stand out as lyrically tight. "Underworld inglorious, bad bitch in Astoria," raps Millyz, adding a touch of panache to the otherwise reflective cut.
While Jada kicks things off with the iconic, raspy laugh, he proceeds to lower his voice an octave to deliver a powerful verse. While Jada's contribution are on the short side, his presence alone leaves a lasting impression; as one of the more underrated and lasting figures in hip-hop, there's a certain gravitas whenever Jada goes in. It's hard to imagine a time when Jada wasn't popping, as he's been popping since at least 1998. Still, his pre-fame plight has certainly had a profound effect on the rapper, who hasn't forgotten the struggle that came before.
Quotable Lyrics
Nobody got no love for me but my hitters
Ya'll don't got no love for me cause ya'll bitter
This drink is catching up to me and my liver
But if you had it rough as me, you'd cry rivers
- Jada
