There You Go

Another artist out of Chicago is having a strong week when it comes to releasing new music/. Saba marks his return to the hip-hop game with "There You Go," a brand-new single, which he co-produced with Oakland-based multi-instrumentalist Daoud. It's a detailed and intricate offering which sees Saba energetically rap with enthusiasm over top of the soulful production. "There You Go" feels like a departure, but in a good way, for the rapper, who just turned 23 years old. Back in the latter stages of 2016, his release Bucket List Project was met with critical acclaim and also led to his first headlining North American tour in the spring of 2017. Since then, "There You Go" is only the second single release he's given us, the other being "Monday to Monday."

This new song also carries a bit more of a weighty significance to it for Saba on a personal level, making it the first new solo release he's made since his cousin and fellow PIVOT artist John Walt aka DinnerWithJohn was murdered in Chicago back in February. To give that man a proper send-off, Saba has been hard at work getting "John Walt Day" off the ground. It will feature a concert benefiting Chicago youth that goes down on November 25th at the House of Blues in the Windy City. "John Walt Day" will mark the beginning of the John Walt Foundation, which aims to work with and provide opportunities and funds for young Chicago artists. Around all of that going on in his hometown, Saba will still find time to land in other cities across the United States before the winter hits. He has spot dates scheduled for the Day N Night Festival in Orange County, CA on September 10th, All Things Go Fest in D.C. on October 7th, and A3C Fest in Atlanta on October 8th.
