Nasaan first hit my radar after he recieved a co-sign from none other than Eminem, and since then, I've considered myself a fan. The Atlanta based up-and-comer has been on the grind, perfecting his sound while being selective with his drops, but he's recently decided to share something new. The track, which features a beat from Atlanta's JoFlame, finds Nasaan teaming up with another ATLien, JustMario for the vulnerable banger.
Insofar as the beat goes, JoFlame laces up a reversed vocal sample, keeping it consistent beneath some trap-inspired drums. Nasaan shows off a nice ear for melody and holds down the fort with a finessed flow. While the subject matter is ostensibly a melancholic ode to a troubled romance, there's a bit of a twist. Nasaan reveals a little bit about the song's origin, and shows a vulnerability that translates to the music - "Im not the best singer. I really hate my singing voice as of right now but here it is. I made this song about a special someone in my life. Its written from their perspective as if they were talking to me."
Ultimately, Nasaan's vocal chops are solid on this track, and there's only room to grow. As of now, he's been working in the studio to deliver his next project, and if this record is any indication, it's going to be a good one.
Quotable Lyrics
Every time I hear her fuming, en guarde
You would hang up but you say the call's dropped
I would keep bringin' more issues but nothin' would get dealt
Please keep me in rotation cause I got weak lungs
