Nike has officially unveiled a new Nike Kobe A.D. colorway which has been dubbed "Compton," in honor of DeMar DeRozan's hometown.
This KOBE A.D. "Compton" is inspired by DeMar DeRozan's memory of watching Kobe Bryant play against Utah in the 1997 playoffs. Kobe's "airball game" taught the future Hall of Famer how to deal with adversity and showed a young DeRozan that resilience was key to success on court.
The date of that memory, May 12th 1997, is featured on the shoe's lace tips, while a picture of the street that DeRozan grew up in Compton is stamped on the sockliner. Additionally, the Kobe logo, DNA symbol and signature on the heel tabs follow color scheme of Bryant's "airball game" opponent.
The "Compton" Kobe A.D. will release next Wednesday, April 12th via SNKRS.
