One of the dopest artists you haven't heard, Ro Ransom is finally back this morning after teasing a new record. It's been over a year (!) since his last release dropped, "Doppleganger," and even with that record, his releases have been few and far between. For whatever reason though, this feels like a pretty significant return for the S-Rank rapper, with a feature from Toronto's Prince of the city, Jazz Cartier. Although Ro has been lowkey doing his thing on the music blog scene for years now, it seems like a move from NYC to LA has helped spur new creativity and inspiration.
This new offering, in the vein of "See Me Fall" and its predecessor "Doppleganger," explores and experiments with a sound that is both dark and light. A bed of piano keys, swirling synths and spurts of static accommodate Ro's melodic vocals. Take a listen and let us know what you think.
Ro is currently prepping a new album for summer 2017 (fewf), Momentum. Stay tuned for that.
Quotable Lyrics
Pour a fo' and smoking out inside a limousine
Model bitches they just flew in from the Philippines
They might off a n*gga head like a guillotine
She say Jacuzzi you the prettiest I ever seen
