Chris Webby, last heard on R-Mean's "Babylon," has dropped a new track called "The Stickup." Featuring Skrizzly Adams, the new material falls in a more serious category than "Undeniable," which was more fun and loose-sounding than this is. "The Stickup" centers around a world-weary voice who's tired of letting people walk all over him and associating himself with the wrong kind of person.
The use of sound effects stands out in the production, with little stings of gun shots and phones ringing accentuating the foreboding atmosphere that the lyrics create. Webby certainly has the flow and rhyming ability to keep up with pretty much all of his peers; once he nails down a more focused tone for his music, we could be looking at a breakthrough artist.
Quotable Lyrics
Hold the phone
All those years I rode along
Weight of the world on my shoulder bones
But it feels like no one's home
