Long Beach, California's Joey Fatts isn't someone who's known for his tender moments, but his new track, "Momma Serenade" puts a new side of him on full display. Shared in celebration of Mother's Day, the track takes a similar tone to Kanye's classic "Hey Mama," with Joey using a gently emotional singing voice. He shares anecdotes of the important -- if not always easy -- experiences he and his mother went through together. A nostalgic, piano-led instrumental compliments Joey's heartstring-tugging vocals. The beat comes courtesy of producer 100staccs.
Joey isn't the only rapper publicly celebrating his mother today. See how hip-hop is celebrating Mother's Day 2017 here.
In March, Fatts released three new songs ("562," "Everybody Knows," and "Swingin"), which saw him collaborating wth Vince Staples, Curren$y, and JMSN. His Cest La Vie project is due out May 30th and will feature Playboi Carti, Curren$y, Xavier Wulf, Maxo Kream, and more. Find more music from Joey on his official SoundCloud.
Quotable Lyrics:
Got you stressed
'Cause I'm hanging out late
Blowin' my phone up
Makin' sure that your baby boy straight
No more stressin' momma
I'm in Texas, momma
Doing shows all across the states
And I'm not restin' momma
Just make sure that you pray everyday
And never lose your faith
