When Method Man made a surprise appearance on Netflix and Marvel’s “Luke Cage,” it brought a smile to the face of hip hop fans everywhere. It appears the love affair between the Staten Island native and the venerable comic book publisher is continuing in the the form of a Ghost Rider comic written by none other Method Man.
The comic is out now, titled “Ghost Rider X-Mas Special The Infinite Comic,” and is available digitally and in print. It tells the story of a devilish Krampus wreaking havoc on the slums of East L.A. It appears to be fittingly dark based on the shared pages, but we hope Meth’s signature wit is also peppered into the story. Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso explains the collaboration as follows: “the conversation between hip-hop and Marvel continues as one of rap’s more storied lyricists takes the Hell Charger out for a ride. In ‘Ghost Rider X-mas Special, the legendary Method Mad sets up a classic conflict between Robbie Reyes, the current Ghost Rider, and Krampus, a mythical creature who’s perhaps best described as the anti-Santa.”
Consider us stoked. The collaboration is especially fitting because one of Method Man's alternate identities is Johnny Blaze – at one point the alter ego for Ghost Rider.
