The Stakeout

"Hooks, beats, verses, tell me who the fuck can hang with that?"

Russ' debut album There's Really A Wolf just dropped today, featuring (for the most part) an array of brand new tracks. The New Jersey emcee makes no secret that he's a multi-talented individual, rapping, singing, producing, mixing, and mastering his entire album, including standout cut "The Stakeout."

With a low key, percussive beat, Russ switches it up between rapping and singing, providing capable verses alongside a melodic hook. There's even a closing acoustic guitar solo for good measure. While my personal favorite track is one of the oldest cuts "Pull The Trigger," "The Stakeout" is a another great showcase of what Russ is all about.

Quotable Lyrics

Yeah, no matter what, I never lose my ambition
I soldier through the bullshit, turn my wounds into wisdom
There's some new women itchin' for some love and attention
But I'm still scratching the surface of my potential, won't let them fuck up my focus
I rarely ever like they advice
'Cause they gon' try and dim my light because I shine in they eyes
I'd rather be hated for what I am than loved for what I'm not
I wanna give my mom the world without worrying 'bout the cost
