Raekwon The Chef doesn’t sound like he’s aged a day on his recent album The Wild, so we’ve pulled another of our favorite tracks from the Wu-Tang emcee’s recent release. “Nothing” is as vintage as it gets for Rae.
Spitting his raspy bars over a sparse, almost western-sounding beat, Raekwon’s storytelling comes to the forefront. He raps about the abject poverty of the hood and how the chase for a little bit of cash drives everything. It’s a testament to Raekwon’s talent that his stories sound as fresh and gritty as every despite 20 years in the game.
Quotable Lyrics
Scheming in the back of the Benzes
Hundred shot, AK, straight off your lenses
Do it again, screw-face a new face up again
This is how I know it’s a win
