J.I.D is J. Cole's latest signee to Dreamville Records and on Friday he released his first project for the label The Never Story. Cole contributes production to closing track "LAUDER," which is one of the project's very best tracks. The Atlanta rapper sounds like a young Kendrick at his most exasperated on the record, as technical as he is animated.
In a recent interview with HNHH, J.I.D spoke of the natural way in which his signing with Dreamville came together. "It was really organic. It wasn't no industry shit, it was really like 'I fuck with your art'-type shit," he said. "It happened so naturally, it didn't even feel like they had to ask me [to sign]."

Quotable Lyrics:
So part of the reason I be so hard on my people
We never had it easy, never had a pot to pee in
I be on my knees praying to my onomatopoeias
Packing a coliseum, ain't no parking
I gotta see J.I.D
Gotta be there for my family
I gotta, can't try to be
I could out of my mind, thinking logically
No apologies for speaking how I feel
I silently swore solemnly
LAUDER
