One of the most striking songs on Stormzy's new debut album Gang Signs & Prayer is one of its gentlest: "Cigarettes & Cush" feat. Kehlani. It's a tender tribute to those lazy Sundays spent smoking up with your significant other, and it wouldn't have sounded out of place on her album SweetSexySavage.
"I was trying to make a slow jam, and this beat felt very free-spirited and lazy and nice," Stormzy explained in an interview with The Fader. "It sounded like Sunday. It just reminded me of being with a female and smoking bud and being mad chilled... that’s something I know a lot of people can relate to, I would just love to make a tune that resonates like that."
Lily Allen makes an uncredited appearance on the song.
Quotable Lyrics
It's been like a month now
Since you left my side
Got me smokin' a blunt now
But there ain't no vibe
'Cause I fucked up badly
All I did was push
Now there's no more weed
No more cush
