Pro Zay's submission is rooted in boom bap, but it's more ambitious than your average 90s nostalgia record. The snare and bass beat becomes increasingly lush as sample-based details reveal themselves throughout its runtime. Meanwhile, Zay screws his vocals on the hook, nodding to the classic Houston technique. Due to a few tried and true methods, and a charismatic performance from Zay, the record is a promising first impression of the rapper.
