A summer jam in the middle of winter, it's no wonder a group from Down Under produced "Bad Day." Australian production collective The Avalanches linked up with Indiana-bred rapper Freddie Gibbs on this cool track about a sunny, crappy day.
The Avalanches recently dropped Wildflower, their first album together in 16 years. Called a "rough mix" and a "Christmas jam for you all," "Bad Day" will have you on repeat till the weekend.
Bonafide bad boy Gibbs channels Biggie, talking about "life without fear, putting five karats" in his "baby girl ear." Meanwhile, The Avalanches toy with samples of Shuggie Otis' "Strawberry Letter 23" and Stevie Wonder's "For Once in My Life," seamlessly splicing them into a dance beat. Listen to it below.
Quotable Lyrics
Life without fear
Putting five karats in my baby girl's ear
Used to put the cars in my baby momma name
Four in here for breakfast, we were cooking cocaine
That was lunches, brunches, interviews by the fucking pool
