Chicago's Pivot Gang produced two of the finest hip hop projects of the year in Saba's Bucket List and Noname's Telefone -- three, if you count Mick Jenkins' The Healing Component. They recently connected with Chelsea Reject and Phoelix on a song called "Counterfeit."
119 Productions, a Chicago-based "collective of artists, filmmakers, and designers," is rolling out their Countdown 2 Midnight project. "Counterfeit," the project's second single, is a showcase of dazzling wordplay, in particular from Noname, over a simmering, jazzy instrumental.
Countdown 2 Midnight will feature Mick Jenkins, Kaytranada, Martin $Ky, King Louie, Dally Austin, theMIND and Jean Deaux.
