Young Thug has been doing it by himself, or at least, independently. The rapper recently revealed an office space for his new imprint YSL Records, within the 300 label offices. The latest leak from Thugger's stash is a record that big ups his independence and drive, with production that feels less ATL trap and more stuttering jazz. The record features a closing verse from Rula Da Messiah, who is an affiliate of 808 Mafia.
This is actually the first leak from Thug we've received in a minute-- instead he's been popping up as a featured artist for everyone from Meek Mill to one of his "idols" Wyclef Jean to GuWop. The rapper's also been on tour with 21 Savage for their "Hi-Horsed" tour, while promising one more project before the close of 2016 (which will be "ten times harder" than No, My Name Is Jeffery, according to Jeffery himself). With all this, plus his new YSL Records imprint, it definitely seems like Thug will have a busy end-of-year, with the promise of an even bigger 2017. Is Young Thug a household name yet?
