1 - 800

After sharing his Pilot mixtape earlier this year, Indianapolis rapper Mathaius Young is already working on the follow-up, sharing a pre-release track called "1-800" today. Like much of his work, the record is self-produced (with additional production from Dauphin Amir). Dark, distorted drums lay the foundation of the beat, before pulsating Drive soundtrack-esque synths enter halfway through, coupled with panning key riffs. The attention to detail extends to Young's vocals, as heavily filtered ad-libs echo off of his braggy lead. "1-800-BALLIN on these n*ggas," he raps on the hook, making for a track that's as flashy as it is experimental.
