Listen to a wintertime turn-up record from Toronto's Soundman: "Man Down."

Soundman, whose had past success as a Heatseeker with tracks like "Lane Switch" and "Soon Touch," is starting to get a buzz in his hometown of Toronto. He enjoys the soundscape -- a murky blend of trap and R&B -- that has become associated with his city, but his flow and energy are different than his competitors in the GTA. His latest track, "Man Down," has already reached 10,000 plays in a month with little to no promo.

On "Man Down," Soundman raps with an especially maniacal pitch, which helps him deliver simple boasts in an effective manner. He adds sauced-up ad-libs to the hook, on which he splashes like Steph Curry. The track is "slow and hype at the same time," says Soundman of "Man Down," which is produced by New York's Cameron Pasquale and mixed by the well-known TO engineer known as Dot.
