"Fake Love" was the final track Drake played on tonight's birthday episode of OVO Sound Radio. Like "Two Birds One Stone" and "Sneakin'," a collab with 21 Savage, it will appear on More Life, the forthcoming project he announced at the beginning of the show. "Two Birds One Stone" is Drake being lyrical, "Sneakin'" is him being hard, and "Fake Love" is him going pop with no abandon -- and thus coming through with what sounds like a massive hit record, much in the vein of "Hotline Bling." Drake's good friend Odell Beckham Jr. had quoted the hook of "Fake Love" on Instagram a couple of months ago. 'Tis a catchy one.
Surprisingly, the song doesn't deal much in romance or heartbreak; rather, it's a lament on all of the "Fake Love" he experiences on a daily basis being one of the most important players in the music industry. Though the song would've fared well in the summertime, "Fake Love" is well-suited for the fall season. Expect to hear it on the airwaves very soon.
Quotable Lyrics
I've been down so long it look like up to me
They look up to me
I got fake people showin' fake love to me
Straight up to my face, straight up to my face
