Toronto-based singer Ebhoni continues to push her sound forward with the help of some inventive producers. With new release "nastyboy," she pairs herself with New Zealand's POLO, who supplies a slow build of synth textures that eventually explode into a tense and chaotic wash of sounds. Throughout, Ebhoni stacks her vocals, subtly complimenting them with auto-tune and allowing her harmonies to closely shadow her leads. She follows the unpredictable twists and turns of the beat, eschewing traditional strong structure to fully explore the ever-changing sonic space.
The maximal approach is a sharp contrast from the minimal PC Music-esque bend of her previous single, "Bye Baby," but a no less effective experiment.
Quotable Lyrics:
To show how much I care for you
I put you before everything
And all you did was take, take, take from me
Until there was nothing left
