Joe Budden will release his Rage & The Machine album this Friday, October 21st. Everything he's put out from the album to date has sounded rock solid. Sunday, he released what might be the album's most potent song to date: "I Gotta Ask." Budden laments the state of the rap game, asking rhetorical questions like "Why are you all dressed like Metro Boomin?" over an araabMuzik beat that evokes a similar vibe to Jay Z's "Hard Knock Life."
"The beat immediately brought me to a very nostalgic place, it just felt good" Joe told BET. "Hopefully, it'll have that same effect when others hear it; I'd like for that to resonate."
Budden is currently in the midst of his "The Rage" tour. Listen to "I Gotta Ask" and check out dates here.
Quotable Lyrics
Standing in the cypher rocking
Driving some of the hottest cars New Jersey's ever seen
Then dropping some of the dopest mixtapes that you've ever heard
And it's all courtesy of weed, a couple percs, and lean
