The hip-hop world is quickly (and finally) getting familiar with Joyner Lucas of Worcester, Massachusetts. He's been cosigned by Boi-1da, and as the hosts of the latest episode of OVO Sound Radio, the OVO producer and his frequent collaborator Vinylz premiered a new record of Joyner's that they produced, "Tap Dance." It turns out that wasn't the only new Joyner Lucas song that dropped during the episode, as a radio rip of "Lovely" has now arrived.
"Tap Dance" was a pure show of Joyner's lyrical maneuvers, and "Lovely" is too, but more importantly, this record finds the recent Atlantic signee bringing his outta-this-world wordplay back home in an impressively seamless matter. He appreciates the simple things that his newfound success has brought him; how rare it is for a rapper this good to be making boasts this humbly.
"I can get my son a Nintendo now / Couple shirts and a damn Netflix account / That's it? Yup / But that's OK, I know that I'ma be aight, I ain't rich for now." He's not stressing about reaping the rewards his skills should afford him, as for now, he's doing what he loves and feeding his loved ones by doing it. He also has some words for Diddy, who apparently rejected one of his demo tapes. By the sounds of it, bigger and better things await Joyner Lucas in the immediate future.
"Lovely" is produced by Nox Beatz. The song arrives just as Joyner blessed Tech N9ne's new single, "Sriracha" -- also featuring Logic, with a ridiculous verse.
