Miami resident and WiseUp leader Sylvan LaCue is still riding a high six months after the release of his acclaimed album Far From Familiar. Now it seems he is ready for a new set of challenges, as he releases his first-ever self-produced song, "Best Me," in an HNHH premiere.
The production on "Best Me" is minimalist and samples an array of rich jazz guitar chords. LaCue has become engaged, and now looks to put his best foot forward for himself, for his fiancee, and for his future children.
"I wanted 'Best Me' to feel honest, straight-forward, & relatable," LaCue told HNHH by email. "I think all of us seek to be the best versions of ourselves. Even when we fall short. I wanted to confront things, talk about my headspace, & set the tone for my future in a way that any listener that's tuning in, could effortlessly put themselves in my shoes as if they were the ones singing the song."
"Best Me" is a part of Master & Dynamic headphones' select series. M&D Select Series seeks out talented artists to work with, whether it be rappers or photographers or another type of creative individual-- they aim to push these individuals further with a exclusive content and an interview. Quotable Lyrics
Hold on, know ya grown
Go on, getcha dough, baby
Hold on, know ya wrong
Just don't lose your soul, baby
Hold on, don't you know
Love won't ever fold baby
Killin my, killin my, killin myself
Bet I could use some soul lately
