Earlier this year, Atlanta lost one of its most prized young talents in Bankroll Fresh, who would've turned 29 last month. Those closest to the late rapper as well as other ATL elites have made sure that his legacy looms large over the city and that his music from the vaults gets the shine it deserves. A posthumous track from Bankroll called "Dirty Game" was released in June and it was given an official remix from YFN Lucci last month. Bankroll can also be heard on the hook to a snippet of an unreleased Jeezy song that was used in the promo video for the Snowman's upcoming album, Trap or Die 3. Today, Bankroll is the lead artist on a new all-ATL collab entitled "I Just Wanna," featuring T.I. and Spodee.
One can hear some of Bankroll's contributions in a snippet of "I Just Wanna" that can be streamed courtesy of Apple Music. Head here to purchase the full song.
What's special about Bankroll is how his raspy raps have a natural, conversational feeling to them. His thoughts jive naturally when placed upon a trap beat. A certain lyric from "Ocean Drive" by 21 Savage (very much a student of Bankroll's) feels fitting -- "I'm the one that the streets chose." This new song is also notable for reuniting T.I. with Spodee, as there had been some tension between the two rappers after Spodee discussed his reasoning for leaving Grand Hustle Records.
