Kid Ink has scored some serious hits that embrace the melodic side of West Coast rap, but his new release, "One Day," finds him playing off of traditional R&B sounds while bringing a more modern rap-driven performance on his verses. A sample-like vocoder-driven hook adds a hint of nostalgia to the track, while Ink navigates the low-BPM, 90s channeling instrumental with some intimate personal reflections. This follows the release of "Nasty," a Jeremih and Spice-assisted record that hovers between dancehall and the familiar territory of the rapper's effective R&Bass tracks.
"One Day" will appear on the Rocketshipshawty 2, the sequel to Ink's 2012 mixtape, out September 20th.
Quotable Lyrics:
One day, I'ma put on all of the squad
And drink champagne like it's water
Baby one day, but today since you not around
Same city, but it feel like we both outta town
Used to say that we would make it together
One Day
