KidMays is a rapper out pf Victorville, CA, but his sound isn't all that informed by the West Coast. Instead, Kimays fits more within the post-regional sounds one will encounter through a deep SoundCloud binge. The dreamy, ethereal style of "Handout" puts Mays in a similar post-trap space as the likes of Madeintyo, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Yachty, but his vocal delivery is a little more traditionally-inclined. The rapper's deep, subtly melodic flow is more of an indication of his California up-bringing, recalling the work of HBK and other West Coast-based acts that have a keen ear for hooks and earworms.
