Chicago R&B singer Johnny P has died today (Nov. 27), according to a report from Fake Shore Drive. Prior to his death, he had apparently been in a coma for a few weeks. An affiliate of the Chicago trio Do or Die, Johnny is perhaps most known for his hook on the group's biggest hit, "Po Pimp," which also featured Twista, with whom he also collaborated frequently. He also guested on Scarface's 1997 Tupac-featuring hit single "Smile."
Johnny released his debut album, The Next, in 1998 via Rap-A-Lot Records. It featured Scarface, Do or Die, and production from Mike Dean. Purchase the album on iTunes.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Johnny's friends and family. Listen to some of his notable work below.
