Earlier today, Chance The Rapper announced that he would be donating $1 million dollars to the Chicago Public School system, as well as donating $10,000 to different public schools in the city for every $100,000 he raises for his non-profit organization SocialWorks. “Our kids should not be held hostage because of political positions,” he said Monday during his press conference.
The story quickly spread across just about every media publication this afternoon, informing pretty much any one that went on Facebook or twitter today, including former First Lady & Chicago’s very own Michelle Obama for that matter.
On Monday night, Michelle decided to jump on twitter & thank Chance for his generous donation. “Thank you @ChanceTheRapper for giving back to the Chicago community, which gave us so much.” She added, “You are an example of the power of arts education.”
