Willie B, not to be confused with the TDE Digi + Phonics producer of the same name, is a rising rapper hailing from Brooklyn (you guessed it). He's making a pretty strong HNHH debut today with our premiere of his record "From Brooklyn," obviously dedicated to where he was born and raised. NYC is seeing a new crop of rappers come up and put the storied hip-hop hub back on the map, but because many of the artists doing this are taking from sounds across the country New York has really become a melting pot these days. Apart from the title and the hook clearly repping New York, the production also has that gritty feel associated with much of New York rap. What do you think of Willie?
The up & comer wants everyone to feel like they're from BK with this song, telling us via e-mail, "I just wanted to give people a sense of entitlement or belonging to Brooklyn, where ever they may be from LA,TX, Atlanta, Las Vegas etc. Instead of isolating my city, I wanted every listener by the end of the track to feel like they come from the same porch, steps or block like me - and no matter ya background - listeners can always feel like they're from Brooklyn."
Feel like you're a Brooklynite yet?
