Papoose is the latest rapper to take to record to vent about the current state of affairs in the U.S., from the presidential race (namely the antics of Donald Trump) to the police brutality we're seeing in the news daily.
The New York MC compares present day to the past, over production from Tie Sick that samples the Marvin Gaye record the song is also titled after, "What's Going On." The soul-infused beat is perfect for Papoose's socially-aware thoughts, where he also aims to provide a teaching lesson or two. "It wasn't only one Harriet Tubman, do your homework it was actually hundreds, they erased what really happened back then, they don't want us to know we can fight back and win," Papoose raps.
