A few weeks after dropping his Mufasa's Way mixtape, Jeff Chery has already announced a follow-up EP, Vega, which will be entirely produced by the Florida duo HamSquad, who were behind the Mufasa's Way single "Juice & Soda," featuring OJ Da Juiceman. Today, Chery has released the first track off Vega: "What You Doin?" It's a banger that has got us eager to hear the collaborative project.
"What You Doin?" is a club-focused track that's less dark than much of Mufasa's Way, as Chery tightens his flow to relay an easy sense of confidence. Once he sinks into a beat, the flows come naturally, and on "What You Doin?", HamSquad give him an immediately immersive trap beat in which he's easily able to find the pocket. The instrumental is composed of electric drums, ominous synths, and playful sample work, including the Squad's signature elephant cry. Chery gets especially melodic on his second verse, perhaps the most seamless section of the song. With Mufasa's Way, Chery situated listeners in his dimly lit trap house. This one's straight for the club.

Quotable Lyrics
I'm worried about nada, what the fuck you doin'
And I just left the scene, I pull off in the Aston
The fetti do aerobics, look I make it backflip
If you ain't chasin' paper, what the fuck you doin'
