Listen to "Fill Us," a new gospel-inflected juke jam from Chicago artist Mari.

Chicago-bred rapper/producer Mari is currently rolling out his #MariMondays campaign, in which he releases one song per week in the months leading up to his forthcoming EP. "Motivation" was particularly impressive. This week he liberates "Fill Us," a song crafted in the Chicago juke tradition.

Co-produced by Doctor Chicago and Mari himself, "Fill Us" is a plea for strength, whether it be in the form of cornbread or something deeper, to make it through the day.

In Mari's own words, "Fill Us" is a "ghetto hallelujah." Give it a listen and share your thoughts in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics

It's that funk, not that shit they want, but the shit they need
Looking hungry, it's that food for though, homie eat yo' peas
They like, "you gon eat your cornbread??" Hold homie, freeze
Make that shit for all of y'all, because all us gotta eat
