Oakland's Elujay caught our ear earlier this year with smooth, hazy "Flagrant." His new release "We Don't Mind" is equally soulful but more ebullient, and ultimately makes for a nearly effortless listen.
"We Don't Mind" begins with a feather-light electric piano intro that gives way an uplifting chorus, which features a slick drum groove and Samaria's immaculate vocals. God damn. Elujay and his fellow East Bay resident Caleborate spit a verse apiece. The track is produced by Wax Roof, Drew Banga and Kevchoice. Give it a listen and share your thoughts in the comments.
Quotable lyrics
I'm fixated on dollar signs and accomplishments
I think it's living and learning just for the fuck of it
I think it's wrong that you don't sing along
I feel these roots until the season gone
A euphemism, boy you're wrong
