Listen to M.I.A.'s new festival-ready anthem, "Go Off," featuring Skrillex and Blaqstarr.

M.I.A. has shared the first single off her upcoming album, AIM, which upon its September 9 release, will be her first in almost three years. The song, "Go Off," features EDM wunderkind Skrillex as well as Baltimore club emcee/producer Blaqstarr. "Go Off" is a catchy club record that finds M.I.A. letting her vocals quickly ripple over a lightweight Skrillex production driven by a melange of airy vocal samples. The song contains hints of footwork and Baltimore club in honor of Blaqstarr, who comes in spontaneously to echo M.I.A. on the bridge that leads into the hook. As for Blaqstarr, his most recent hip-hop appearance came on Tate Kobang's "Nasty Girls," off the 300 signee's Since We're Here mixtape. Listen to the awesome all-Bmore collab here

"Go Off" was premiered earlier today by Annie Mac of BBC Radio 1. By the sounds of it, AIM will be a welcome change from the more abrasive music that the versatile British artist has been focusing on over the past few years. Still, the politically-charged lyrics are directed at the male establishment that tries to contain her artistry.

Quotable Lyrics

I’m gonna talk and you gonna listen
I’m on ten like men, even better than them
Yeah I don’t lose focus like a German called Sven
My third eye’s open and my focus ain’t joking
Yeah you got it wrong, cause my focus is so strong
