In case you haven't noticed, the veteran Young Dro has been at the top of his game this year. He dropped two mixtapes in the month of May, first the Zaytoven-produced Boot Me Up and then Phoenix. Shortly before that, he matched the young mobsters of T.I.'s Bankroll Mafia squad blow for blow on the crew's debut self-titled album. Dro is now back to prove once again that he's been "Drippin Sauce" all over Atlanta. His new song is produced by two members of the Mafia, Joe McLaren and Wheezy, the latter whom is known to be a go-to guy for Young Thug, landing four beats on I'm Up.
The "Drippin Sauce" beat is eerily minimal, containing just a few piano notes and thudding bassline, but Dro knows just what to do with the negative space -- singing, whispering, and eventually falling into some wicked flows once he gets going. There's much hilarity along the way, as he compares his own sauce to that of his favorite chicken wings and boasts about his ability to create a child in eight weeks.
The track is included on McLaren's new McLaren Music mixtape, which also features Shad Da God, Kap G, Lil Duke, and Trouble.
Quotable Lyrics
So much sauce on me, drippin' properly
31 flavors, Baskin Robbin me
And you know I look fingerlickin'
I ain't fuckin' with no stankin' bitches
