After previewing this record via an Instagram video earlier in the week, Jaden Smith kicks off Friday with the release of the full record. He's celebrating his 18th birthday today (I know, he seems much older because of all the so-called wisdom he spews) (sarcasm), and so this serves as a little birthday gift to fans.
Jaden Smith continues to experiment with his sound, and we were definitely impressed with his feature on Rich The Kid's recent mixtape Rich Forever 2 (check out "Like This"), and "LABOR V2" is another step in the right direction. He's definitely winning us over. On the record, he shows us he not unaware of certain impressions of him-- he raps with a poignant sense of self: "Confused teen, man I might be, in between an innovator and a hype beast, and I know you don't like me." That's not the only topic he touches on, the current social climate is referenced as well.
Do you fuck with the song? Are you a Jaden Smith fan?
Quotable Lyrics
I'm underground like I'm Harriett Tubman
The clique is training we preparing to run shit
Feeling lit, I'll take my parents to London
Trust you don't want this
The clique is ready for the functions
You ain't ready for the subjects
