Saigon and Termanology joined the spate of rappers releasing politically-minded tracks yesterday with “We’re Both Wrong.” It begins with audio of Sanda Bland’s arrest, most poignantly highlighting when the officer tells Bland, “I will light you up” before Q-Tip’s keys kick in and Saigon hops on the mic.
Both emcees take a turn getting their frustration with police behavior off their chest. Termanology especially doesn’t stop at the police though, turning his lyrics to the financial standing of minority communities and stressing that saving money is one of the keys to empowerment.
Q-Tip’s sample-driven production does just enough while allowing the emcee’s to let their words shine. The artwork and Soundcloud suggest there will be “more politics” coming in 2016, and it doesn’t look like they’re wrong about that.
Quotable Lyrics
Do we want knowledge? And bread for our tongues
saved in accounts or more belts and wallets?
and me, I'm part of the problem, purchasing Gucci products
before I put away that money for my daughter's college
