Pell hasn't released much in the way of new music since the start of 2016, but it looks like that's all about to change with the release of a new record today, "Basic Beach." The New Orleans native last project, LIMBO, dropped in November 2015 so it's definitely about that time.
The rapper gets his groove on on this new record. The very musical backdrop, produced by Like Minds, consists of a horn arrangement with funky guitar and bass strings juxtaposed beside Pell's feel-good flow. And the summertime vibes are abundant. This could definitely be added to your BBQ playlist.
Pell shared a few words on the song with Pigeons & Planes, telling them, "This is for those who are tired of being persecuted by those who bring their significant other to a function expecting them to not mingle. Lighten up. ‘Never bring sand to the beach, when you’ve never even seen that shore.'"
We had Pell on our On The Come Up series way back when, watch that below.
Quotable Lyrics
Jameson in my gills, got me drunk in love
But it only last a minute or until I buzz
I was
16 when my uncle took me fishing
But little did I know I'd hooked the prettiest of women
