In celebration of the Cavs' historic win tonight, here's a Clevelander's anthem from two of the city's top talents: Doe Boy and Ripp Flamez. A little over a month ago, Doe Boy returned to East Cleveland after he had spent almost three years in prison. "Lifestyle" is the third track he's dropped since he's been out, following last week's "Rap N*ggas Hoes" and his first comeback track "Doe Boy Home," which just got a new video.
Doe Boy had achieved some success in Atlanta, where he signed to Future's Freebandz label, before he was sent away. He's now operating out of his hometown, though he's quickly reinstated himself as an important component of Future's team. As for Ripp Flamez, he dropped off a trappy tribute to LeBron earlier this month, and it's proven to be effective.
"Lifestyle" operates at a slower tempo than Doe Boy's last two records, and it's an effortlessly smooth collab, with a careful sample-led trap beat from producer Mitch Mula. And it's not lacking in Doe Boy's usual suspense, either, as both artists are able to relay the pain of the "Lifestyle" they've experienced. It's a well-rounded street track that's got us wanting to hear a whole lot more of this Cleveland sound.
Quotable Lyrics
Flexin' like he in the hood, I pulled up, he was not there
Rubber Band Money Gang, bitch you know I'm gang gang
Pull up and I'll rip the flame, I'm out here with that thing mane
