The proud, lyrically proficient New Yorker known as Your Old Droog is back with his first new track since March's "Just Rhymin'," a collab with Joey Bada$$ and Styles P. His new one, "White Rappers," is a response to Lord Jamar's infamous spiel on the same subject -- namely that white people are "guests in the house of hip-hop."
On the chorus, Droog is given some wise words from "your old friend," aka himself, and his message is that "it's not about the color of your skin." What's important is "the beats and if the emcee goes in." Droog just does that, not missing a single bar.
"The way he flowed on a track was straight bananas / Came right in our house with great manners." Think Jamar would agree?
"White Rappers" will appear on Droog's upcoming album PACKS.
Quotable Lyrics
Like menthol, bringin' the strength y'all
On Funkmaster Flex night, excite and enthrall
I'm a giant in the mental
A lot of rappers wanna vent
But when they do it, it's uneventful
